Howdy howdy! What a week it has been! Not much time so this is going to be fast!

On Tuesday we had a campus festival! There was 4 games and as there are 4 missionaries on the campus (Sister Ethington and I and Elder Williams and Elder Heiner!) Each missionary was in charge of a game! Then we had members with us as well! It was a huge hit! Tons of people came and played games and in return had a meaningful conversation with either the missionaries or our wonderful members and then got candy! We are going to do it again here soon!

On Wednesday we had a Christmas conference! We watched "Mr.Kruegers Christmas" and we got another challenge from President Peterson and Sister Peterson! We have 2 transfers (12 weeks) to finish the entire Book of Mormon as a MISSION! In case that didn't make sense, I'll clarify: THE ENTIRE TEXAS HOUSTON MISSION IS READING THE ENTIRE BOOK OF MORMON IN 12 WEEKS! Sister Ethington and I finished the Book of Mormon challenge from President Nelson last night and we started President & Sister Peterson's challenge this morning!

Well on the 20th I'll be out for a officially a year!  I've been working harder than I ever have in my entire mission and these next 6 months I'll continue to give it my all! I sure do love y'all!

I saw this picture of Jesus Christ yesterday. As I was looking at this, my breathe was taken away and my heart broke for my dear savior and brother and I could truly feel how much he sacrificed and how much he loves me!! Let me know what y'all think!!

Week 8 - 1st Transfer Still

Hey Y'all!

This week was totes amazing!!!

My trainer is the best, I'll send some pics! We're over 2 wards. The 2nd ward is just like Campobello Ward. I love them so much. There's a kid that looks just like Koby, and it's super trippy. My area is the flipping best!! The Elders in my zone are great. One of them has my same birthday and we're both turning 20 this year!!! I'm so pumped!!!

Zone Conference was the best, if there was one thing that I am going to take away from it, it's when President Peterson said "Do our part and he'll always do his". Then he referenced the Doctrine and Covenants 82:10. I absolutely love that scripture!! PRESIDENT PETERSON IS SO AMAZING!! He is truly there for each missionary and gives all he can give until he has nothing left to give!! He's the best!!!!!!!
In this group picture, the order goes as follows:
Right to Left: Sister West, Me, Elder Broschart, Elder Laparra, Elder Conley, and Elder Berry!!
Elders Laparra and Broschart are from ARIZONA!!!!!!

I didn't get to teach the French Peeps, that I had met last week! I was so excited!! But they told a member of the ward that they are going to see missionaries when they get back to France!! I nearly cried when I heard that!!!  I'm so excited for them.

A few investigators dropped us so guess who does like 3 hours of tracting each night?!!! ME THATS WHO!!! But we find sooooo many people ready to hear the gospel!!!!!!

I love tracting even more now that I get to talk to them and ask them questions! Some of the approaches are harder than others but totes worth it!!

I have been doing a lot of family history work and I'm hoping I'll be able to have a bunch of names soon!! I'M SO FLIPPING EXCITED!!!!! I can't wait to have names and such to have when the HOUSTON TEMPLE OPENS BACK UP ON APRIL 24TH!!!! ALL THE MISSIONARIES IN THM ARE JUST SO EXCITED!!!!!

It's been raining a lot and the humidity is going to end Sister West and I but it's totally worth it!!! We are finding so many people in need of the gospel!!! So we get a little sad then super pumped to find them GATORS!!!!!
"Tracting!!!! "

We visited some old families that investigated the church before and we are going back to teach them more and more!!

This upcoming week is going to be very busy but I'm way ready for all the miracles that are going to come from this!!!!!

My take away from this week is just how important our mission statement is:

"Our discipleship is settled. We are faithfully prepared, exactly obedient and lovingly bold. We WILL see miracles AND accomplish our missionary purpose as we unite with the Lord in hastening his work. WE ARE THE TEXAS HOUSTON MISSION."

I have seen so many miracles and we do the things the lord wants us to do by taking the attributes Jesus Christ displayed and do as he did by SPREADING THE GOSPEL!!!!! We are asked to be bold and go where the lord would have us go!! So that's what I do!!!

Thank you to everyone who wrote or emailed me!! Y'all are definitely making my life in Katy, Texas so amazing!!!! I hope to hear from y'all again this week!!!

I love y'all! Have a great week!

Week 7

Hey y'all!!

This week was pretty darn crazy!!

So Monday we had exchanges because Sister West had to go to a training thing. So I was with Sister Owens. She was awesome and I got to go to Lone Star College. Which was awesome. We taught someone in their area named Keith and he was awesome and definitely on track to be baptized.
Sister Owens and Sister Mullings

I got sister west back on Tuesday and it was like we were separated for a whole year, bahaha.

Wednesday, was interesting. Sister West did a members toes and it was really gross but so sweet of her.

Thursday we went to this burger place, and GUESS WHO GOT FOOD POISONING?!?!!  ME THATS WHO

Friday just visited a bunch of LARCS all day, I LOVE OUR MEMBERS SO MUCH

Saturday I was so sick so we just tracted and visited some peeps.

Sunday, we had church and then we went to Brother Velez house afterwards to meet his neighbor who was interested in learning more about the church.

Week 5 - Transition from MTC to Mission Field

This week was totally crazy. Our flights got all messed up and my first flight was to San Francisco and then we had over an hour until we had another flight to Houston Texas. We didn't land in Texas until 10pm on Wednesday night.

Then Sister Molisi and I went to the mission home..

On Thursday morning, I met my companion. Her name is Sister West. We're in Katy, Texas!!!!!

GET THIS: SHE WENT TO SCHOOL WITH MY BIG SISTA KATIE!!!

As soon as we made that connection, it was like we were like long lost friends. We've been doing really well together. We've found so many people to teach! I LOVE TRACTING OH MY GOSH. IF I COULD TRACK EVERY PLACE HERE I WOULD!!!!

I've eaten so much while I've been here, the members feed us so well! I went to Chili's, Jimmy Changas, and the best thing that I ate is : JELLY FISH TENTACLES!!!! It was so silky and slimy and squishy. They kept calling the one I ate Junior because it's like the one from Finding Nemo. (If you don't  know what I'm talking about, go watch it now).

The elders here are so amazing and super funny. I love them already. One elder is from Arizona!!! AHHH it's been so awesome!!!!

Anyway, the quote of the week is from our beloved Thomas S. Monson:

"the past is behind: learn from it.
the future is ahead: prepare for it.
the present is here: live in it. "

As I continue to grow and become the missionary that my Heavenly Father wants me to be, I still need to do my part and remain focused and be the best that I can be. I love all the people from home that are sending their love each day through prayer, those on missions somewhere in the world, and people everywhere I have yet to meet!!!!

SMOOCHES!!!!!  XOXO

A Post from Mom - 1/18/2018

18 January 2018

Dear Sister Mullings ,

Last night your missionary arrived in the Texas Houston Mission. Sister Mullings is safely here and looks very excited to be in Texas.

Each missionary came with a bright look in their eyes of determination and willingness to participate in taking the gospel to the people living in the mission boundaries.  We love each one already and are so glad to have her with us.

Thank you for the support and love you give your missionary.

Warm regards,

President and Sister Jordan Peterson

Week 4 - MTC (Last week before transfer to TX)

So this week was insane and jam packed.

Last Tuesday night for Devotional, you won't believe who we had come and speak with us!! I guess I'll tell you! ELDER DAVID A. BEDNAR AND SISTER SUSAN BEDNAR!!!!!

I think I scared my district because I absolutely love listening to Elder Bednar speak.

When Sister Bednar spoke some of the things that stuck out to me were: Come to know who you truly are; return with honor: represent yourself, your family, the church, and the Lord Jesus Christ by wearing this name tag each day and teaching his gospel unto all people; she asked us to look for places where people in the Book of Mormon are strengthened by the Lord; and make sure we say a prayer of gratitude each day to thank our father in heaven for all that he does for us.

I could go on and on about what Elder Bednar said but I'll do my best to keep it brief: ask to know then do as he has commanded; he went on to talk about what will happen with the first presidency now that President Thomas Spencer Monson has indeed passed away. He explained how the next President of the church will come to be. He continued to discuss the power of the priesthood and how the priesthood is the power to do as he would do and say what he would say. Priesthood keys is channel for revelation. He used this analogy about an umbrella and he said: "The man will hold the Umbrella but the woman may be under the umbrella and be safe from the rain." Even though men hold the priesthood, women still take advantage of the benefits and we have the power to get blessings and perform certain ordinances. the joke he made is that every man needs a woman and that without Susan (his wife) he most definitely wouldn't be with us that day or even the amazing apostles that we know and love, they most definitely need their wives to be who they are fully. I absolutely love that.

We got 11 new missionaries but we had one go home on Friday evening. :'( The 4  new sisters are Sister Molisi and I's roomies!!

We got to go to the temple twice this week. The first time was with Brother Hall (one of the counselors for my branch presidency) and we got some awesome pictures. We only went to feel the spirit and so he could talk to us 5 missionaries some more. Today Sister Molisi and I went to the temple with our roomies.

Yesterday morning Elder Wooden left for his mission since he is going to Houston Texas East and we're going Houston Texas. We already miss our elders and sisters in the Charleston West Virginia Mission, but they emailed us and they are doing amazing in the field already!!!

This is my last update from the MTC and I've loved my time here and I've learned so much.

Next Stop: HOUSTON TEXAS Y'ALL!!!!

Week 3 - MTC

Hey Y'all

This week was pretty crazy. All the missionaries that are not in my district left last Wednesday morning, and we got 24 new missionaries on Wednesday afternoon. We have had a blast getting to know them. They are definitely keeping us all on our toes, sometimes we don't know all the answers so we have to call President Ford. There's a couple that are from Arizona. And there is a handful that are going to the Arizona Scottsdale Mission. I love my entire zone so very much, and I can't imagine leaving them. They learned very quick and they understand now that there is a time to be serious and there is a time to have fun. It took a few days and as a STL, I was reminded that it was my job to help and correct them if they're being goofy but it needs to be serious. Like I said, they learn very quickly.

Tomorrow, sisters Chamberlain and Tanuvasa (Roommates) are leaving to head to their mission in Charleston, West Virginia. Elders Anderson, Harrison and Hendricks are also leaving tomorrow to leave to the same mission. I am very sad that they are leaving because they are some of the best missionaries that I've ever met and I love them very much. Good news is we are getting 12 new missionaries tomorrow afternoon. I am very excited and I can't wait to meet them and get to know them.

On Sunday at about 5:45 in the morning while I was in the middle of curling my hair, the power in ENTIRE MTC TURNED OFF. So have my hair was curled and the other half was straight. They started calling me the crazy mom. You know like the mom that has so many kids and she looks so tired and about ready to take her hair out. That's what I looked like. My comp and I taught relief Society as well.

On Monday, don't ask me why but I saw a BOM in french. I bought it and I'm at the part where he had just killed Laban and was wearing his clothes and he was headed back to his brothers. I'm learning more now that I'm reading it in a different language. I read it all out loud as well so it's that much harder, and I love it!! I'm excited to learn more this way!!

We went to the temple today again at 6am. We ate at 9am and we took some awesome district pictures and overral I just feel it was a really great week.
I was incredibly sad when I heard the news about President Monson! But I received a quote this week from Sister Curtis and I absolutely love it! It says:
" Do not pray for tasks equal to your abilities, but pray for abilities equal to your tasks. Then the performance of your tasks will be no miracle, but you will be the miracle."

I honestly think that the holy ghost prompts me to do things that challenge me but these challenges help my heart and mind to expand and grow. I learn many amazing and wonderful new things each day. I have learned so much being here but I'm super stoked to get to the field.

I love you all and thank you to everyone who emails/writes me during the week, you make me so happy.

Lots of love!! xoxo

~Sister Mullings
